Punta Bermeja es un lugar privilegiado dentro de los doscientos kilómetros del Corredor de las Playas de la Patagonia,
La región presenta una atractiva playa de piedras rodeada por el marco imponente de los acantilados y una especial reserva faunística.
Esta zona de playas está vedada al acceso de los turistas -tanto para proteger a los hombres como a los lobos- y cuenta además con un Centro de Interpretación Faunística donde se pueden conocer detalles sobre la vida de los lobos marinos y otros exponentes de la fauna de la región, a través de animales embalsamados, fotos y audiovisuales.
Se puede disfrutar de un balneario de características especiales, donde el mar ha erosionado las rocas de manera tal que formó una serie de piscinas naturales, que quedan al descubierto durante la marea baja y hacen las delicias de quienes buscan un chapuzón.
En la zona superior del acantilado hay servicios de confitería, proveeduría, sanitarios, estacionamiento e instalaciones para acampar, y para descender a la playa se puede hacer uso de una rampa escalonada o bien utilizar un medio mecánico de elevación.
También los amantes de las cañas pueden despuntar el vicio con una oferta de pesca variada (pejerrey, corvina dorada y negra, pescadilla, congrio), y quienes deseen algo más fuerte pueden hacer quince kilómetros por camino enripiado hasta Bahía Rosas, donde se puede intentar la pesca de tiburón desde la costa.
Reyes del lugar
Con su imponente figura llegan a medir tres metros de longitud y se alzan hasta un metro y medio sobre el suelo- los lobos marinos son los reyes del lugar. También llamados lobo de un pelo o león marino del sur, en contraste con la torpeza con que se desenvuelven en tierra firme, estos pinnípedos tienen una gran facilidad y gracia para moverse en el medio acuático.
Desde su imponente mirador de pasarelas, pueden apreciarse las aves marinas y costeras. Es común observar desde grandes animales como el petrel gigante, que con sus más de dos metros de envergadura sobrevuela en otoño e invierno las playas buscando comida, hasta las bandadas de pequeños loros barranqueros que permanecen todo el año en la zona.
Entre estos extremos, hacen su aparición la paloma antártica -encargada natural de la limpieza de los apostaderos en la época de las pariciones de los lobos-, gaviotas, cormoranes y biguás.
También puede observarse ocasionalmente en La Lobería la aparición de orcas y alguna ballena franca.
